The Taos Blizzard (5-15) failed to take advantage of Cody Coffmans effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 16-5 to the White Sands Pupfish (8-17) at Taos Tundra.
Coffman hit two home runs for the Taos Blizzard. Coffman went 3-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Coffman homered in the sixth and eighth innings.
The White Sands Pupfish ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The White Sands Pupfish scored four runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The White Sands Pupfish scored seven runs in the first on the White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on an RBI double by Yermin Mercedes, a two-run triple by Mike Brandi, a three-run home run by Justin Cook, and a solo home run by Preston Lyon.
Brandi did his best to jumpstart the offense for the White Sands Pupfish, reaching base four times. He scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Mike Ormseth got his second win for the White Sands Pupfish despite allowing five runs over nine innings. Ormseth struck out nine, walked two and gave up 11 hits.
Matt Garlock (0-3) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed 12 runs in five innings, walked three and struck out three.
The White Sands Pupfish pounded the Taos Blizzard pitching, as eight hitters combined for 17 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
